Dear Friends,
Greetings in the Lord. We hope and pray you are well and the Lord is keeping you in perfect peace. This past month, our Gospel Expeditions have taken us deep into the heart of the Middle East, where we continue to witness God's faithfulness in opening doors. From ancient cities steeped in history to remote communities that have rarely heard the gospel. Each day brings new encounters with souls hungry for truth, and we're reminded that no geographical boundary can limit God's love or His desire to reach every tribe, tongue, and nation. Additionally, We're thrilled to announce that soon Travel the Road will begin airing on Tubi TV, bringing the multiple seasons to an even wider audience. We believe this new platform will inspire countless viewers to embrace the call of missions and step boldly into their own Gospel Expeditions. Your steadfast prayers and support continue to be the very lifeblood of Travel the Road. We are so thankful for all you do and ask you to continue in every way. We sense the urgency of these times, knowing that each seed of the gospel sown has the potential to bear an eternal harvest. Please pray for open hearts as we continue reaching the unreached throughout the Middle East and Africa in the months ahead. Together, we are accomplishing much!
This month, we would like to share a message called - Legacy
In the grand tapestry of eternity, our earthly lives represent but a single thread - yet what a profound thread it can be when woven with eternal purpose. The Apostle Paul understood this when he wrote, "I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." — Philippians 3:14. True Christian living demands that we set our sights beyond the temporal horizons of our own existence and consider the eternal impact of our choices, our investments, and our influence. Legacy, in the biblical sense, isn't about monuments carved in stone or achievements recorded in history books - it's about the spiritual inheritance we leave behind, the faith we transfer, and the kingdom work that continues long after we've been called home. When we live with eternity's values in view, every relationship becomes a discipleship opportunity, every season of life becomes a chance to mentor, and every blessing becomes a stewardship responsibility. The question that should awaken and inspire every believer is this: when our race is finished and our course is complete, who will carry the torch forward? This is the sacred calling of legacy - to live not just for our own spiritual advancement, but for the advancement of God's kingdom through those who will follow in our footsteps.
The Faithful Stewardship of Moses
When Moses stood on Mount Nebo, gazing into the Promised Land he would never enter, his final act wasn't about his own legacy but about ensuring Joshua was equipped to lead Israel forward. "Be strong and courageous, for you must go with this people into the land that the Lord swore to their ancestors to give them, and you must divide it among them as their inheritance." — Deuteronomy 31:7. Moses understood that true leadership isn't about building monuments to ourselves but about raising up those who will carry the mission beyond our earthly tenure. His legacy wasn't the wilderness wanderings but the faithful transfer of God's calling to the next generation. Like Moses, we must ask ourselves: are we preparing others to go where we cannot, to accomplish what we may not live to see completed?
Elijah's Mantle - The Power of Mentorship
The relationship between Elijah and Elisha reveals God's heart for generational continuity in His work. When Elijah found Elisha plowing with twelve yoke of oxen, he didn't just call him to follow - he invested in him. "Elijah went up to him and threw his cloak around him" (1 Kings 19:19). This wasn't a casual invitation but a deliberate act of spiritual adoption. For years, Elisha walked with Elijah, learning not just the miracles but the heart behind them. When the time came for Elijah's departure, Elisha's request wasn't for wealth or fame but for "a double portion of your spirit" (2 Kings 2:9). True legacy isn't about what we accomplish in our lifetime but about multiplying our impact through those we pour into. Elijah's greatest miracle wasn't calling down fire from heaven - it was raising up a successor who would perform twice as many miracles. The question echoes through time: who are we clothing with our spiritual mantle?
The Danger of Broken Succession
Scripture also warns us about the consequences when generations fail to pass on their spiritual inheritance. After Joshua's death, we read these sobering words: "After that whole generation had been gathered to their ancestors, another generation grew up who knew neither the Lord nor what he had done for Israel" — Judges 2:10. One generation's failure to transfer their faith resulted in centuries of spiritual decline and apostasy. King Hezekiah, despite his personal righteousness, failed to prepare his son Manasseh, who became one of Judah's most wicked kings. These examples remind us that personal faithfulness, while essential, isn't enough - we must care for the next generation. The enemy's strategy is often to allow one generation to flourish while ensuring they fail to reproduce their faith in their successors. We cannot assume that our children or spiritual children will automatically inherit our passion for God's kingdom.
The Urgency of Our Times
Today, as we witness unprecedented global opportunities for gospel advancement alongside growing persecution of the church, we must ask: are we raising up those who will carry the torch when we can no longer hold it? The digital age has created both the greatest evangelistic opportunities and the greatest spiritual challenges in human history. Young people today face temptations and distractions that previous generations never encountered, yet they also have access to tools and platforms that can spread the gospel faster and farther than ever before. The urgency isn't just about reaching this generation - it's about ensuring that this generation becomes equipped to reach the next. We're living in what may be the final chapter of human history before Christ's return, and the enemy knows his time is short. He's intensifying his attacks on the family and on biblical truth. In this environment, passive faith transfer simply won't suffice. We need believers who are so grounded in truth and so passionate about Christ that they can withstand the cultural tsunami and emerge as leaders for the next generation. The question that should drive us isn't "What will people remember about me?" but "Who will continue the work when I'm gone?" This includes not only those we formally mentor but also those who are inspired by our example to pursue their own deeper relationship with Christ. Sometimes the greatest legacy is a child who surpasses their parent's faith, a student who exceeds their teacher's impact, or a young believer who is inspired to develop an even greater zeal for God's kingdom. In God's economy, the ultimate success is when those who follow end up going further than we ever dreamed possible.
At Travel the Road, since the beginning, our mission statement has been clear: Preach the Gospel to the ends of the Earth and encourage the church to be active in the Great Commission. This dual calling shows that our focus isn't just about reaching the unreached ourselves, but about raising up more workers to be sent into the harvest for this generation and the next. What moves us most deeply is seeing the fruits of this vision unfold across the globe. Over these 26 years, we've received countless messages from individuals who discovered their calling to missions through the episodes they watched. Many who were young when they first encountered these stories are now serving as missionaries, pastors, and ministry leaders in remote corners of the world. This multiplication effect continues to expand as those who were once inspired have become the inspirers. Some have established their own mission organizations, others are mobilizing their local churches for global outreach, and many are raising their children with a heart for the nations. The ripple effect reaches far beyond what any single ministry could accomplish alone - it's the church awakening to its calling and embracing the adventure of missions. And as for us, our journeys certainly aren’t finished yet. We are in our prime. Always ready and active as ever. For if God be for us, who can be against us? Thank you for your faithful prayers and support, we couldn’t do it without you! Peace be with you.
In Him,
Tim and Will
“Hi Travel The road, I am a 19 year missionary trying to follow your steps in showcasing the world Gods move. As a young kid, my parents showed me your documentaries. Ever since it’s been in the back of my brain. Now I have been embarking on trips across the middle east now and also trying to create a show! I would love if you guys have any advice for me! I thought it would be awesome for you guys to hear that also, just to let you know how your films are continuing to send laborers! Thank You.”
“I’ve been watching your series from the beginning, season 1. While en route to Thailand to help with disaster relief after the great tsunami of 04, a fellow missionary introduced me to the series. I’ve been watching ever since and your ministry was a huge push for me to enter full time missions where I started serving full time in Uganda. I have shared your series with dozens of people I know. God is continuing to use you guys.”
“Wanted to share with you that we use your episodes on Daystar for weekly Homeschool lessons in Spiritual Studies Class. We watch them as a family, and our fourteen year old son has been very inspired by you two. The episodes have sparked many good and deep discussions. He shares your stories with friends, and has also suggested his Dad order your DVD’s and share them with the youth group. Thank you for sharing the message of Christ but also for encouraging us to do the same!”
“Tim and Will, I would just like to say thanks for your inspiration. Our daughter has watched your films for many years and was encouraged to go into the mission field. She is now in Africa for two months sharing the gospel. Thanks for being such a huge influence. May God also continue to use you both no matter where you are.”
“I’m going Full Time into missions in the Fall. You guys inspired that. Keep it up!”
